April 29, 2025

Dear Conn community,

As I reflect on the past week – and the many months leading up to my inauguration – I am filled with deep gratitude. Thank you for the extraordinary welcome and for making Inauguration Week such a meaningful and memorable experience.

While I have had the privilege of serving as your president since July, the official investiture on Saturday, April 26, marked a new chapter not only in my own journey, but in the life of our College. It was an historic day, enriched by the presence of so many – students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, delegates from colleges and universities near and far, government and community leaders, and my own family and loved ones. Your energy and enthusiasm truly reflected the spirit of Conn and the powerful connections that unite us.

I am especially grateful to everyone who organized, participated in, and attended the many events that were a part of the inauguration. From the thought-provoking exhibition (Re)defining a Liberal Arts Education to the vibrant Earth Week activities, from the joyful “Indoguration” of Koda to the Totally 80s Spring Concert and Talent Show, each event celebrated the creativity and community that make Conn so distinctive. The celebration continued into Sunday with the 18th Annual Walk to End Homelessness and the POCA Fashion Show, both of which beautifully underscored our collective commitment to inclusion and impact.

One moment that will stay with me was the delightful surprise when a “flash mob” of students arose from their seats around Palmer, eventually making their way to the stage and filling the space with the joyful sound of “Seasons of Love.” Their passion and energy were absolutely infectious!

Although the rain made its presence known, nothing could dampen our spirits! To relive some highlights, I invite you to view our inauguration day photo gallery.

Thank you for your partnership, your presence, and your belief in what we are building together. I am honored to lead this remarkable institution and excited for all that lies ahead. Let us continue to connect, collaborate, and create the future of Conn – together.

With gratitude,
